London through our eyes

We went to London couple of times last month.  Although it is only 20 minutes on the train, it feels a world away and we venture to London  only when it is necessary.

We have a list of places we want to go: some of them tourist attractions and some not so.

First place we went was Somerset house.  We were lucky, the fountains on the courtyard were on and there was an exhibition by Ai Weiwei. To top it all, it was a sunny day.

Once inside, we were enthralled by the spiral staircase:

Second place we went to see was Cleopatra's needle on the banks of Thames.  We were excited by the two sphinxes guarding the needle.

Then we were off to have some lunch.  I read about the place we wanted to go for lunch as it was described as 'one of the places in London very few tourists visit'.  So we went to check it out.

It is the cafe in the Crypt in St. Martin in the field, Trafalgar Square.  It is opposite 'National Portrait Gallery'.

We will be going back to see more places soon.
